Women of Faith

After a women’s weekend retreat in 1998 including discussions, bible study, prayer, and laughter, Women of Faith was founded.  Our mission is to provide an opportunity for all women of our church to gather for worship, spiritual and personal growth, and to help other less fortunate individuals.

Most of our functions are focused toward mission.  We have supplied many kits to the ‘Gift of The Heart’ program which is run by the Church World Service in response to the needs of people affected by natural disasters.  Our ‘Pieces of Warmth’ program has supplied many colorful quilts made by the women of our church to needy organizations like Turning Point and The Rescue Mission.  Our ‘Prayer Shawl Ministry’ supplies knitted shawls to individuals who are experiencing particularly difficult times in their lives. We continue to support the auxiliary of Westminster Village in their annual bazaar to raise money for charitable care at their facility.  A new program for us in 2009 is joining with the Sunday School children in participating in the ‘Operation Christmas Child’ program.
We also raise money each year through bake sales and craft boutiques to fund the sponsoring of families of Turning Point during the holidays, to purchase toys for the ‘Toys For Tots’ program, the purchase of materials and shipping costs for the ‘Gift of The Heart’ kits, and the purchase of numerous small and large items for the church kitchen.
The Women of Faith also serves the congregation by doing wedding and funeral receptions.

We meet monthly on Tuesday evenings (except during the summer) at the church with occasional other meetings and activities scheduled throughout the year.  Come and discover the power of the ‘Yellow Rock’.
